Respiratory Fit Testing

What to Bring?

Respiratory issues are the number one farm health concern. Respiratory exposures in agriculture may include pesticides, fertilizers, grain dust, livestock, mold, hay, exhaust from machinery, welding fumes, and other types of organic dust. Respiratory protection is key to protecting agricultural workers from breathing these hazards.

Anyone working with a pesticide must follow all personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements listed on the label. This is a legal requirement for using pesticides. Pesticides that carry a risk of inhalation exposure include a statement that a respirator is required PPE. Fit testing a respirator is an important part of the entire process of appropriate respiratory protection.
