Hyde County Health Department offers primary care services for adults and by a primary care clinician (Nurse Practitioner). Primary care consists of preventive care, sick care (acute), and disease management. Referrals are provided as indicated.
The DOT physical exam is a necessary test for any individual hoping to get behind the wheel of a commercial motor vehicle (CMV). This examination makes sure that all commercial drivers are up to par in their daily health examinations and are at peak performance. It ensures that you or other CMV drivers are physically able to handle the long hours and stress of operating a commercial vehicle. A DOT Physical evaluates a driver’s vision, blood pressure, weight, and a complete review of their medical history. This can help ensure that a driver does not have certain health conditions and can safely operate a commercial vehicle.
We offer sick visits focusing on one problem such as cough, ear pain, sore throat, vomiting, diarrhea, and fever. These visits can include breathing treatments, EKGs, stitches, spirometry and testing such as flu, strep and COVID-19. We educate as needed regarding treatment, symptom management, and home care for the acute problem.
We manage diabetes, high cholesterol, hypertension, obesity, substance abuse disorders, hepatitis C, Depression, Anxiety, and wound care. Specialist referrals are made as needed.
